Have been to Alaska twice for fishing and decided to visit Denali. These cabins have been the cleanest we have seen so far. Stayed at two lodges that were not as clean and a little worn out, but it's Alaska. So .... I was pleasantly surprised by Chinook. A little far from Denali but a quaint town and quaint cottage. Would recommend to anyone. I give a four simply because some see five and are expecting the Ritz. The cabin was clean and cozy. The heater seemed to have a temperature hold setting that it ignored, and seemed to operate off a timer instead. Thankfully the cabin was very sealed and stayed warm overnight. Unfortunately it seemed to be too well sealed as the smoke or carbon monoxide alarm went off while taking a shower, likely due to the water heater. Lastly the nearby train horns sound through the cabin during the early night hours that some may be sleeping, but that's not the fault of the motel. Talkeetna is a neat little town, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, easy walking distance to the town and all its shops and restaurants. Beautiful cabin in a picturesque little town. Felt like a fairytale. The owner is very nice and makes you feel at home. The town is walking distance with quaint little shops and restaurants. Loved it. Would definitely stay here again. Very reasonably priced and more charm than the much more pricey though beautiful Princess lodge. We spent a week in Alaska and changed accommodations each night. This ended up being my favorite place to stay. The cabins were large, to say clean is an understatement and every comfort of you home could want. Deluxe accommodations in a rustic setting one block from down town. Very nice cabins! Small but cozy. The woman we originally talked to was friendly. The reason I'm giving it 2 stars is the man (I believe the husband/owner) that picked us up and checked us in and dropped us off was so rude! When he picked us up he proceeded to tell us how much he didn't like tourists, and then yelled at another car, with us in the car. Everyone we met in talkeetna was very friendly except him it seemed. When dropping us off to the train he didn't say one word to us. Overall left a terrible taste about the cabins.
